If you were supposed to... be with us last week. |
by: Rtn. Robert Otto
Chuck, thank you! Thank you for asking me after
the meeting to write this article. Is this a
memory test or did you just forget to inform me
earlier? Did I just happen to sit at the wrong
table at the wrong time?
Whatever. Please forgive me fellow Rotarians if I
miss some of the things that happened and for
other things that you might have appreciated to
find in the Pagkakaisa this morning.
After a prayer for Andy, by Dong, Baby Rtn. Raffy
introduced the visiting Rotarians and guests. It
was good to have David back after months of
recovering from the Family Olympics, organized by
his Rotary Club.
I remember Mohan telling a joke which I
appreciated but cannot remember. Most probably
not suitable for a business or family
environment!
Tony L. has been elected the new President of the
RCMA Foundation. The other committee
announcements were about our favorite hobby:
Golf. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the
President's Cup. I really had to work! Anyway, it
was a big success, 26 participants, some with
political elements, like favoritism... the
President ended in the number 2 slot! As a smart
politician, Dindo was fast to announce that the
handicap of Dennis would be reviewed, thus
avoiding a spontaneaous rally in Manila Golf.
About 12 RCMA'ers will most probably attend the
Mitsubishi Golf Tournament in Australia. For
those who are still interested, you can get info
from PP Vince.
After the golf, and closely related subjects,
Tonino introduced JohnBee. Johnbee shared his
experience in creating a culture in his company
whereby people feel they "own" part of
it (the business). With this, he stimulates the
sense of responsibility, belonging and
involvement. His theories and experiences were
both interesting and helpful for everybody
managing a company. What I appreciated a lot in
his speech were the personal notes and his
sharing of his life experiences in general. It
gave me the feeling that we did not only leave
the room with more knowledge (about managing a
company), but we also know the speaker a little
bit better.
At 9 o'clock sharp, the meeting ended. |
