1st Medical/Dental
Mission
Last Friday July 23, RCMA had its first
Medical/Dental Mission at the Stopping
Stones Learning Center in Makati.
Due to the heavy rains of Typhoon Signal
No. 1, the four volunteer doctors were
late getting to the Mary Johnston
Hospital at Tondo where their RCMA aide
had been waiting for them for sometime.
The four volunteer dentists on the other
hand still didn't have their RCMA
provided ride by 9:30. Noting that the
morning was half gone and expecting that
there would be very few patients due to
the suspension of classes of the targeted
children's schools, we advised the
doctors and dentist not to proceed.
Fortunately , Louie Villonco of Stepping
Stones had requested for about 7 dentists
to come to help with the Mission along
with Dr. Vince Gomez, a previous speaker
at our club, to look over the special
children enrolled at Stepping Stones.
With the above complimented by about 7
personnel from the Stepping Stones staff
and 6 Rotaract members including Percival
Estillero, the Medical/Dental Mission
served a total of about. 40 patients,
mostly children from the school as well
as some from the surrounding baranggay.
Considering the bad weather, it was so
good to see several RCMA'ers come early
to help. These included Baby Rtn. George
(2) Lagos, "Ever Reliable "
Rtn. George (1) Juico, Baby Rtn. RJ
Ledesma and Pagkakaisa Editor, Rtn.
Chuck. Later in the morning came Rtn.
Rene Narciso, Pres. Dennis Valdes and
then P.P. Coch. All except 1 maybe 2
RCMA'ers stayed till lunch time. The
Mission finished early afternoon.
RCMA thanks all who helped, supported and
attended. How about the next one, RCMA ? |
