Why you like that?
Thoughts from your Club Secretary
My weekends usually…OK! OK!…always revolves around golf and this past weekend shouldn't have been any different. Shouldn't Have! That's right. By last Friday, I knew this was going to be a weekend to remember.

Well, everyone went smoothly last Friday night. I left my office in Binondo at around 8pm and it was a smooth 20-minute trip home that normally takes almost an hour.

Arriving home fresh, I was greeted at the door by my wife. What follows afterwards, let us not get into…for now. After a restful sleep, I was on my way to the slaying ground (also known as Riviera Golf Club) at 10am.

As I reached Southwoods (also known as the site where El Tigre and the Tiger-slayer shot an identical 83 on different days, the only difference was El Tigre did it at the Legends course while the Tiger-slayer had his at the Masters course.) there were dark clouds hovering the vicinity of Riviera. O-oh! L

By the time I past Southwoods, it was pouring….really hard. I quickly phoned my victims (Louie, Tom, Luther & Bobby) that it was sunny here in Riviera to ensure their presence.

After a hefty lunch at LZM, the slaying began at 1:15pm under a cloudy afternoon. Hmmm…perfect as I was about to begin slaying. An hour and a half later, we were back at the Clubhouse as the 'sunny weather' turned for the worse. Everyone was drenched and headed towards the Jacuzzi except for Bobby. Maybe the sight of 5 nude men was not appealing to him.
Louie, Tom, EDF and I decided to stay behind to play pusoy-dos while Bobby went back to Highlands and Luther left for Makati. The time was 5pm. Ninety minutes later, I was down P1T while Tom almost P2T and decided to put a time limit till 7pm to end the game.

As 7pm approaches, we were told that SLEX traffic was back up all the way to Sta. Rosa. We decided to call Luther and were surprise to find out that after two hours on the road, he was at Imus. After much contemplation, we decided to stay at Highlands and in the meantime, play some more and kill more time. By 8pm, we were kicked out of Riviera as they had to close. By that time, Luther just got to Bacoor. We decided then to head for Highland. I was down P2,500.
Upon settling down at Highlands, we head out to the Steakhouse and smoke stogies and naturally play some more. It was 9pm and Luther was still in Bacoor. Two hours later, I got a page from Luther that he has arrived home safely, although he was bitchy. Meanwhile, EDF is bitching at not going to Alay Lakad the following morning as he has nothing to wear. I swear, EDF is just like a girl as he has to be prim and proper. He was worried at how he would look as I was worried at how much I'm down. I was down P4,000 and hungry. After consuming two bottles of wine and a cigar each, we decided to have dinner. It was almost midnight and Louie mentioned I was down P4,600 as he was up more than P3,000. It's Tuition time to Papa.

After a sumptuous dinner, EDF got a call from Dennis informing us that Alay Lakad was cancelled. EDF was relieved. I was relieved too as I had a wager with him on to how many RCMAers would be physically present. There was only one way to celebrate the good news that Dennis brought. Play some more and play some more we did. By 3am, we decided to call the game. How much was I down?

P820.00 What a relief! We were asleep by 4am and awake by 5am to finish my slaying at Riviera. By 6am, we were at Hole #1. Hole #3, the rain came and lasted up till Hole #15. Hole #17, the sun suddenly appeared from behind the clouds. Life is not fair. After 18 holes, I was down P5,000.

What a weekend.
