Rotary Ann Lifestyle:
Our Still Talked-About Induction

by
First Lady Sea Princess

As part of the enhancement of the Dennis O. Valdés administration, I have decided to include a weekly segment straight from the playhouse, featuring the better halves (or significant others) of the members, interesting events and loads of gossip, especially about the other clubs.

There will be no political undertones in this article, because there is already too much from the too-exciting PDI. As early as now, I would like to apologize to Rtn. Alvin Co for not being too helpful whilst he was editor of Pagkakaisa and had to bribe me with a costly golf game. But I'll be rewarded more heftily with this effort I'm doing. And believe me, it's big!!

Like people who know me, of course I went over budget with the Induction cost. I sort of lost count after the 150 pineapples were ordered for the invitations. Good thing our good ol' President will cover for the difference. But in the midst of all the spending, to reduce my guilt, I was able to do one charitable thing - donate 72 chairs to the Gun-ob Elementary School, which really lacked chairs. I had Inquirer take a photo of this real classroom without chairs. So in lieu of giveaways to our guests (but note that I still managed to have giveaways for the members!), we gave chairs to this Cebuano School.

Weren't you all amazed with the turn out of guests in Hawaiian outfits? Thank you so much for being so game. Just wait for the next party! Maybe a luau again to save money… (NO WAY! TOO BORING!!) The "entertainment" - which I thought was excellent and sulit - got my son Tyrone's attention during the whole show. At age 3, I guess we can tell he's not gay.

I only wish the other presidents stayed and enjoyed the show as well, especially since all the other inductions are so routine and borderline boring. Of course, I'll never forgive that other club and I'll make sure never to invite that president. This is almost as intense as Erap and the Inquirer!

Thank you again to all those who helped. From the preparatory dinners (where we just ate and spent club funds!) with Alvin, Becky, Eugene, Leni, Coch and Grace (Editor's note: No club funds were used on the preparatory dinners and Eugene, don't blame me for sequencing), to the set-up, with Chatty's flowers and leis and Marisun's grass skirts. But my biggest thanks go to Arsenic and Crispy for agreeing to have Kid's At Work as our venue and being there for the planning and set-up.

Before I end, I have to mention our hula-hoop champion Angelique L for working that hoop for 5 full minutes when the prize was just to swirl that thing five times! Way to go, girl! (Editor's note: Mon, you are a lucky man!) In closing, all I can say is, "Beat this Hawaiian Induction, RC San Lo!"
