Dir. Dindo the "Butcher" Litonjua talked about the very successful 1st President's Cup leg.

PP Archie Lacson was present and spoke about the Mitsubishi Golf Tournament in Australia.

More past Presidents (Tony Laurel and Vince Villafuerte) talking about Australia. About a dozen RCMA'ers might attend the tourney.

Our guest speaker for the day was Johnbee Banzon. His speach centered around Managing a large company and what NOT to do.

The certificate of appreciation being given by Pres. Dennis Valdes.
What Are We in Power For?

What a meeting we have for today. The founders of our club, Past RI Director Paing Hechanova and Charter President Ollie Laperal, are scheduled to be with us. Their presence is particularly important in August, being Membership Development Month. We have six new members and several potential members here today, and hearing the history of RCMA is the best education I can think of for them.

The past week was a busy Rotary week. Saturday, Charter Member and International Service Director Cary Rufino and I attended the International Service Seminar of RC Makati. Dir. Cary is the focal point of all our International Service activities this year, which includes the PHF goals and getting a new foreign match club from the U.S.

Sunday, we had our 2nd Medical Mission. Community Service Director Dong 1 Abad Santos did a superb job of pulling 9 RCMA'ers to the Stepping-Stone Learning Center so early in the morning. Thanks to SSLC neighbors PP Joey & Tess Moreno with her brother, Baby Rotarian Rico Tan, for being among the early birds. Also taking time from their families were Dir. Carey de Venecia and fiancée Marissa Buenaventura, the always-dependable PP T.R. Mohan and Treasurer-extraordinaire Bobby Ro. This is being to read like a Maurice Arcache column, but I cannot but thank PE Paul and Carla Chuatico for being present and working hard during the mission as well. The surprise attendee of the event was the ever-reliable Mike Sy, who came after one phone call to help make plans for upcoming RCMA projects.

The Medical Mission was actually jointly held with RC Makati Guadalupe, ably represented by my classmate, Pres. Manny Serrano, his wife Gie and son, Mikko. Other RCMG members included Eric and Kookoo Aniban, with their son Koobie, and Jojo Tapang. The logistics force was headed by our Rotaract Club of Pamantasan ng Makati, with 20 Rotaractors arriving. All in all, we had close to 300 patients - in fact, we had to send the last 80 or 90 patients home at 2:00 PM because the doctors had to go already. RCMG is already planning the next Medical Mission at SSLC, while for next month I want to go back to Bgy. Pembo and Rizal and plan an Appreciation Dinner for PP Sammy Tanchoco and others who have helped us with Medical Missions in the past.

This weekend, I have a business trip to Hong Kong, but plan to squeeze in a meeting with our sister club, the RC of Tsuen Wan. I already talked to Cleeve Chan, and they have invited me to a meeting on Friday night at the Holiday Inn. Interestingly, Cleeve was supposed to be my classmate, but he reports that there has been a "change," and the new president this year is Raymond Leung. More on this when I get back from HK.

Sadly, I will miss the graduation ceremonies for the 25 Teacher Trainors who will have finished their In-Step FEST training at DLSU. The ceremonies are scheduled for this Saturday, Aug. 28, and the club will have to be represented by our PP T.R. Mohan, Tony Yap and others.

Enjoy your breakfast!
