What Are We in Power
For?
By

Party! This is gonna be a fine evening - a night of celebration for
all of RCMA. We've really done a lot this year, and I thought it would be great to provide
a summary for those interested. You can all find that somewhere in this great Pagkakaisa.
For those of you looking for the usual reprise of last week's event, I
think you'll find that it was a typically busy and yet, fulfilling, Rotary week. Last week
we had our regular breakfast meeting at the Stepping-Stone Learning Center. Our guest
speaker, Boy Sevilla (President of SSLC) talked at length about the history of SSLC and
how RCMA has contributed to its current vision. IPP Miguel Puyat has been heavily involved
with SSLC for a number of years. He encouraged the RCMA Board to make a donation to SSLC
at the meeting, and so we did - a hefty P75,000 donation for the upgrading of SSLC's
classrooms.
The RCMA Board of Directors had its usual monthly meeting last
Wednesday night - coincidentally also the birthday of Director Dong Abad Santos. Ann Sandy
invited all of us to hold our meeting at the Summer Palace Chinese Restaurant - which
makes last week's BOD the best by far, from a culinary point of view.
Friday turned out to be RVC Day. It started at RVC Rizal, with the
inauguration of their Coca-Cola Dealership Project and their Deep Well Project, funded by
Matching Grant #8024. After two quick ribbon cuttings, PE Paul Chuatico, newly elected PN
Mon Mayuga and I all attended the RVC Rizal Christmas Party, partially funded with a nice
donation from RCMA.
We managed only a quick bite, because before long we had to troop over
to the neighboring RVC Pembo. This time, we inaugurated their Consumer Store and another
Deep Well, funded by the same Matching Grant. Then we were quickly off to the RVC Pembo
Christmas Party where another round of speeches and food was had by all. No wonder I've
been gaining so much weight!
Well, just when I thought that was all the eating I needed to do for
Rotary, Monday night was the District 3830 Millennium Christmas Ball at the Westin
Philippine Plaza. Quite a few RCMA'ers attended, never ones to refuse a free meal!
Secretary Alvin and PN Mon also reported that over the weekend they
were in Tagaytay Highlands and RCMA was presented a Plaque of Appreciation by the club for
hosting the Medical/Dental Mission in Barangay Calabuso two weeks ago.
By the way, tonight is also the celebration of the Q4 Birthday Bash.
All birthday celebrants decided to join in with the Christmas Party instead of having a
separate event. They contributed cold hard cash to help fund this event - that's why we
can have a nice roasted calf for the evening.
This party is the last RCMA event for 1999. I'm sure you're already looking forward to the
Y2K so here is a preview of what is coming. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all! |
