Dir. Dindo the
"Butcher" Litonjua seen here
announcing the 1st President's Cup.

Ever vigillant, Dir. Bobby Roxas
reminding us about our club dues.

Rtn. Tony Yap reminds us about the next
day's Cigar Club Meeting held at the Bar
in the Peninsula Hotel.

Our lovely guest speaker, Jovi Yam seated
next to Pres. Dennis Valdes.

I just got a call from Golf
Magazine and they printed an article I
wrote about the Paul Harris Cup. I guess
they liked reading my Pagkakaisa articles
so much! So fellow RCMA'ers take note:
write for Pagkakaisa because it could be
your ticket to becoming a golf writer! No
more grimaces when Editor Chuck asks you
to do the "If you were supposed
to
" article, ok?
This coming weekend is looking like a
busy Rotary weekend. On Saturday, there's
an International Service and Vocational
Service Seminar at AIM. Directors Cary R
and Carey de V have volunteered to
attend. C&C will be joined by PKC and
yours truly.
Then Sunday is our 2nd Medical / Dental
Mission, again at Stepping-Stone Learning
Center. These events are so well planned
by Community Service Director Dong 1 A.S.
that I actually invited the RC of Makati
Guadalupe to join us - making it a joint
Medical Mission. Remember one of our
individual member goals this year is to
attend at least one M.M. This is an easy
one to attend, especially with a
Starbucks so close by to keep you
caffeinated all morning.
What a week last week was. Seventeen of
us showed up for Cigar Night 3, proving
once and for all what little value a
headcount has in our club (only 9 raised
their hands to confirm last Wednesday).
Thanks again to Mr. Cigar - Tony Y
himself, who has shown what an excellent
fellowship Cigar Night can be.
The next day, Friday, was President's Cup
No. 1, moved to Sta. Elena to avoid the
sudden tournament fee issue raised by The
Country Club. Again, we set an attendance
record - 26 golfers! I thought for awhile
that I could continue the presidential
trend of winning the P Cup, until
Spencer's score was tallied and he won
with a net 76. Drat! Looks like the title
of this column isn't enough to convince
Chairman Dindo to skew the rules in my
favor. Thanks anyway to "The
Butcher" for an excellent first
round.
The next day again (Saturday to those who
aren't following this article too
closely) was a Rotary event: the start of
Phase 2 of In-Step FEST. Read about it na
lang in the accompanying article. Thanks
to PP T.R. and IPP Miguel for blazing the
trail on this project.
Our guest speaker this morning is Johnbee
Banzon and I'm pretty curious to know
what he'll be talking about - I actually
haven't been informed. Good to know the
wheels of Rotary don't wait for slow
Presidents. Unlike in the case of
but that's another story!
If you're in a Latin mood, El Cirkulo is
sponsoring a Latino Night tonight -
proceeds go to the Virlanie Foundation.
Alvin will tell us why we should show up,
ideally crooning a Beatles' standard,
"Michelle, ma belle
"
Meanwhile, enjoy your breakfast! |
