If you were supposed to... be with us last week. |

Last Wednesday's meeting was more than the usual
RCMA pow wow and although it was difficult
breaking old habits, most RCMA'yers had to find
something else to do to occupy the morning (I
guess it was a good break for RCMA night owls
like me). 7:30 to 12:00 noon was well spent as I
heard from the conversations while waiting for
lunch to be served. Rtn Tony Leviste caught up on
that much needed practice...(the 2nd and 3rd Leg
of the Prez Cup was scheduled last weekend I hope
that helped!).
Our other rotarians were in their business suits
and looked like they actually worked that morning
nonetheless it was nice seeing the usual crowd
meeting in a different setting. The joint meeting
was the first for me as well as a few others who
attended but even the Prez was impressed with the
turnout 81.7 % fantastic! Why ? Fellow RCMAyer
Bobby Chang commented that our Dear Prez Dennis
knew our weakness... lunch was 100 % free ! I
also heard that the lunch was three times the
cost of our usual breakfast so for those who
attended this meeting, no breakfast for you guys
well, atleast for the next three meetings!
The Intercon Ball room about 50 % full by the
time the meeting was officially opened by the two
Presidents (our's ofcourse was the younger
looking of the two!) and the meeting proper
started. I could not help but notice though that
by this time we were there for already one and a
half hours ...and that was only eating the free
lunch.Then the introductions, acknowledgements
and the toast's (it would have been better with
champagne though) The speakers' line up was quite
impressive and very international they have like
12 nationalities in their club the most popular
that day was New Zealand. Well, we all learned a
few new things about New Zealand; what was the
real name of New Zealand again? Hey don't ask me
ask VP Paul K.C.
No less than the RI Director Hon. Bill Boyd from
New Zealand talked about the future of Rotary in
the next Millenium. I wish I could have stayed on
to finish the meeting but had to rush for another
one across town so I guess someone else will have
to fill up the rest of the events. Our mother
Club was a gracious host and I hope we can
reciprocate by inviting them to our breakfast
meeting and continue to foster the goodwill and
fellowship that both clubs have.
Our President Dennis looked so "totoy"
commented a fellow RCMAyer compared to the rest
of the panel sitting in the presidential table.
It goes to show how young RCMA membership is and
it seems to get younger every week.
