What Are We in Power
For?
By
Dennis O. Valdés
Induction Day! Today we welcome our 2nd
batch of Baby Rotarians for the year. Six
new guys are joining the only breakfast
club in the district: Noel de la Merced,
Jon Montoya, Edmund Ongsiako, Atab
Rivera, Eddie Boy Romualdez and Yoo-Hoo
Villanueva. This will bring our total new
membership for the year to 12.
Interestingly, there is a third batch of
Baby Rotarians already in process for
membership. Which batch will be the best
batch, I wonder?
Dir. Jun Ymson has really done a
tremendous job of getting all members -
both old and new - involved with RCMA.
Last week he held a New Member
Orientation for the incoming Baby
Rotarians. PP Bobby, PP Coch and PP
Miguel joined us to lend their words of
wisdom to the new group. Today Dir. Jun
is distributing a list of committees for
everyone to sign up in. Each Committee
Director will then have an easier time
planning his projects.
Last Thursday night was the Q3 Birthday
Bash Fellowship at the newly opened
Tequila Joe's El Pueblo Branch. Dir.
Eugene Go has had such a flurry of
fellowships that he will soon lay claim
to the title: "Best Club Service B
Director That Has Yet to Attend a Regular
Meeting." Any objections? Thanks
also to PP Miguel for helping organize
the event. It was so well attended that
we can hardly wait for the Q4 BB group to
outdo the Q3's.
Friday last, I had a visit from the
officers of RVC Rizal. They brought
pictures and stories of their just
completed Deep Well, which I thought I
would share with everyone in a separate
article. (Partly to keep this short,
otherwise I know you guys won't bother to
read.)
An RCMA'er did a really nice thing last
week. He named Rtn. Andy Buendia as a
Paul Harris Fellow. I wrote another
article on this event, again to keep this
article shorter. Read it elsewhere in
this issue, guys.
One other note, I received an email
complaint that our breakfast has been
running short lately. As a result, I have
upped our budget for breakfast. Note that
we started the year at P6,000 per
breakfast, went up to P8,000 and are now
at P9,000. If there are still complaints,
please don't hesitate to send feedback.
We want to make sure everyone, especially
Edmund I am told, is well fed. Enjoy your
breakfast! |
