Helping
Hands
Sept. 26 Medical/Dental Mission
by: Dir. Dong Abad Santos
Last Sunday's RCMA Medical/Dental mission at the
Pembo Elementary School was averted from becoming
a disaster it started out to be thanks to Dr.
Cynthia Juico, her team of dedicated doctors and
of course, Rtn. George.
As a result of unfamiliarity, the driver of the
vehicle assigned to pick-up the doctors from Mary
Johnston Hospital did not get to the hospital
until past 10:00 AM, luckily by that time, Dr.
Cynthia Juico's team had already treated more
than 100 patients of the total of 220 plus
treated. Resultantly, it was decided that the
doctors from the hospitals no longer make the
trip to Pembo as there would be little time or
patients left.
The 5 dentists, on the other hand, arrived before
9:00am and were able to treat only about 30
patients as only supplies and equipment for tooth
extraction were available.
The activity was handicapped, or so this writer
thought, as all treatment was undertaken along
the school corridor and the outside play area.
This was a result of the original venue having
been utilized for a Sunday Mass with socials
thereafter. It also rained sometime around 11:15
AM. Some well meaning souls even had to break-in
to one of the classrooms to obtain some chairs
and tables for the doctors and patients.
As committed in the meeting of Sept. 22, PP
Arsenic Laurel, PP T.R., Rtn. Girish and Rtn.
Mohan all came by. They are truly men of their
word. Arsenic brought along Ann Crispy and their
three boys. Ann Sandy conducted the patient
registration which lasted till 12:15 PM.
Personally, and in behalf of RCMA, many deep
thanks must go to Dr. Cynthia Juico and her team,
composed of Dr. Feliciano Campos, Dr. Maryjean
Bautista, Dr. Marcelino Bautista, Dr. Roderic
Fulgencio and Dr. Joseph Rementilla. The Dental
team, who deserve as many thanks, was composed of
Dr. Christian Distura, Dr. Michael Ilagan, Dr.
Catherine Untalan, Dr. Maria Christina Demafello
and Dr. Maita Saulog.
Guys, it couldn't have happened without you all.
Thanks Big Fella, for sending the guys. |
