Why you like that?
Thoughts from your Club Secretary

In my 1,006 days of marriage, I have not encountered a 'Family Reunion' with Becky's side of the family. I'm pretty sure that I have seen my MIL (mother-in-law) less than 10 times (including the wedding day) since I got married.
Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against her and she has nothing against me…at least not anymore (she was still wondering what Becky sees in me). But it seems their 'Family Reunion' went on a decline the day Becky's dad passed away until this past weekend. I didn't mind when Becky told me about until I found out that it was this past weekend that happens to coincide the Ryder Cup. On the other hand, I was looking forward to it because it would give me an excuse to avoid playing golf with The Mad Man, Tuition Time and What did you Say. I have lost a bundle to these three ruthless morons.
The venue. Tagaytay Highlands.
I was at Highlands on Friday afternoon. Too eager to begin the weekend? It was more like I was in the area already as I was at Sherwood Golf Club playing for Highlands in the Federation League against Alabang GCC. I was paired with Luther in the Best Ball format. After two hours and fifteen minutes, the match ended as Luther's putt slide past the hole. The score? 8 & 7. It was a massacre. We were match up against a single handicapper…actually he was not a single handicapper anymore since his index is a '0'. What a way to start a weekend.
Most of the family got up to Highlands on late Saturday afternoon. After settling down and dinner, everyone decides to go down to the Sport Center to play bowling. Not wanting to affect by golf game, I elected to read (Golf Digest) while they played bowling. Hey! At least I was there!
When we got back to Belleview, the last group arrived from Manila. By then, everyone was excited to see each other. It was hilarious and crowded (there were 19 of us). We had the opportunity to celebrate the Moon Cake Festival as well. Each family had the chance to claim the P5T Grand Prize except for Becky and I. Bad Omen? No Way! Obelix is truly coming!….soon hopefully!
By the time we finish playing, it was past 1am and many are pretty tired. After coercing my nephews for a round of Pusoy dos, I was able to make P500. By then, I declared I was tired. It was almost 3am and I had to wake up in three hours to play golf with my BIL (brother-in-law)
BIL is a cool guy. He has a Porsche and he put it under my name but up to now, I hadn't had the chance to drive it yet…in fact, I hadn't had the chance to sit on it yet. But, it's under my name. BIL took up golf 3 months ago and he's so much into it. He hasn't broke the century mark yet but after the round, it looks like soon. His son, who also joins us, has an extremely powerful swing. Unfortunately, he tends to 'shank' the ball as much as Coch makes fun of me. My nephew still has a long way to go. He shot two-over the PAR course of Highlands….in the front 9. I think I just found a rival of Rene Narciso.
When we got back to Belleview, most were packed up and ready to get back to Manila. After a group family picture, they left for Manila while we stayed behind to clean up…well, it was more like we waited for the maid to finish cleaning up the place.
There are discussions when the next 'Family Reunion' will be. I suggested that we have it at the next Ryder Cup weekend. Not a bad idea!
