Kuro-kuro Ko Lamang |
by: Rtn. Chuck Montecillo
Well, it's another late Monday night (or an early Tuesday morning). I'm up
trying to keep my deadline for our prestigious newsletter, Pagkakaisa 2000.
During the past months, I have been writing my columns on things and ideas that run around
in my head. Some of the articles have focused on the idealistic side of life. Rtn. Rene
Narciso confirmed this point of view.
I've gotten many different comments as well. Most of the time, though, I get asked how
much time I actually spend writing my column.(20 to 30 minutes) Why is this? Is it because
my articles seem to be un-researched or just sound silly? Maybe both. I don't sift through
books and magazine articles while I write. The things I write about are just my thoughts.
Day to day, many of these thoughts and ideas go through my mind. Sometimes, it's very
introspective, other times, I just wonder about various queries. You know the kind... What
is life all about? What is my purpose in this world? Why is Erap President? Why haven't we
put Coch and Al in front of the club to do the "Dozens" (two people exchanging
insults about their mothers) for our entertainment?
Pretty much anything that strikes my fancy, I write about. Usually, I have dozens of ideas
for my column, throughout the week. Everyday, I make a mental note of a situation that
annoys me, or something I watched on cable, or a web site featuring a service or product
that might be interesting to you all. Then, when it's time to actually sit in front of my
computer to write, I think of something entirely different. So much for the mental notes.
Being the Editor of this publication, I feel that its my responsibility to write about
something related to Rotary. This is a Rotary Club, right? Our mission is to give back to
our community. So, when I see something that might not seem right or a situation that may
need attention, I write about it. But then again, it's also my responsibility to entertain
you all, so we can ALL serve better. So, I write about pretty much anything that comes to
mind. I figure my thoughts might be silly enough to get you through the first page, after
which, the real articles and entertainment are located.
What's the point of today's column? Well, nothing really. Those mental notes I mentioned
earlier, well, I must have misplaced them. This was all I could come up with. At least it
filled the page (using a 12pt font!). Now, read on.
Good Morning RCMA. |
