Quotes of the Week

Well, I made P3,000 from Rotary this week. But before y'all cry foul and start impeachment hearings, read on...

At last week's meeting, I asked Sec. Alvin Co how many RCMA'ers were probably going to make it to Alay Lakad on Sunday. I called out the number 12 and he said, "higher." If there had been 13 or more of so at Alay Lakad, I would have paid $100 towards Al's next PHF - an unprecedented 5th PHF and the first in our club to have a ruby stone.

Unfortunately for Al, only 9 showed at Alay Lakad, so now he owes me $100 towards my 3rd stone. Of course, as President it is traditional to treat all A.L. walkers to breakfast in Chinatown, so off we all did after the A.L. Jun Y and Bobby C did not show at Ocean Dragon, but PE PKC, Baby Rotarians George and RJ, Treas. Bobby, PP Coch (who has not missed an A.L. in all his years in RCMA) and later IPP Miguel did. The total bill there ended up being P1,000 so I'm up P3,000 in all. Thanks, Al!

Today, after the meeting, the Board of Directors is meeting to plan the rest of 1999. We have a few more projects to squeeze in this year, so we just want to be sure that there are no conflicts and that everything is going according to plans. We'll report on these plans next meeting.

First on the list for the BOD is next week's visit from our sister club, RC Tsuen Wan. They're arriving on Tuesday and leaving on Thursday, so everyone get set for club-sponsored dinners on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Looks like next week is going to be hectic, because as we all know, our HK sisters love to drink way into the evening. So prepare your livers for some massive alcohol consumption...

Today's meeting is going to be extra special. Not only do we induct another 6 new members, bringing RCMA to an all-time high of 64 members, but also we have an excellent speaker in Mr. Ram Chandra Biswas. I have never met anyone as well-traveled as he, so if anything, a 15-minute speech from him will not do justice to the wealth of experiences he is sure to have.

I'm sure we will all enjoy our breakfast!
